In case you don't know, Kamakura is just really a nice getaway from Tokyo. It is just filled with nice eye-candy sight seeing places to enjoy. Also I had the best Soba ever. As soon as I finished my meal I took a good nap too. Wow I never had such a great meal in Japan, maybe. Kamakura also has some great, fine beer.
Thank you You-chan for the beer. IT was fine and great.
Also I saw a quite a few bit of animals. Wild and not.
Cute dachshund. Sorry no front shots... but
FUZZY BEAR DOG!!!
Some dog with a crazy retro hair-do.
AND THESE!!!
SQUIRRELS, I haven't seen one in Japan until now.
They are so awesome - these squirrels.
So yes kamakura does INDEED have Squirrels, which is defiantly any easier word to spell in Japanese, Risu. But they also have one of these:
It's a buddha. Or a Daibutsu... it has something to do with Japanese culture and all. You know, very influential stuff. I like it. It is a very beautiful statue.
I was thinking how weird it would be if I looked exactly like the Daibutsu, gladly I do not.
So then we left, and then I had a good time with my host family again, It sure is nice having company while in a foreign country. I like it a lot, today I talked a lot with Lokesh who is from India and my host brother, We made fun of eachother, had all kinds of interlingual jokes, and we all talked about was how sad we are for not having a girlfriend. That's going to be our new years wish. We just wish that someone out there is looking for girlfriends for us. We honestly had way too great of a time. It was quite extraordinary. And I'm really having a good time here. Defiantly a better time than two nights ago in Roppongi... That was a night to never forget though. I do miss Kansas in many ways. The main reason is everyone there that I can't see here. I hope you all are doing fine. And I am sorry for not keeping up with everyone, now is the time though, I got it please talk to me if you can.

Kamakura was pretty fun, I went during the Children festival (357?). So it was uber packed, no matter which temple/shrine I went to. Though still very fun, and I got plenty of photos.
The daibutsu looked cool, I have to agree, there was even a taiko drum demonstration in the near vicinity of the daibutsu. Though I never had a chance to go inside of it, did you? Like I said earlier, the place was packed with children.
Dude, the squirrels in Lawrence are rebelling, I'm not even joking. They're becoming vicious! They burrowed into my apartment building, and started to rip out insulation. Then they stare at us whenever we go outside... it's like they're plotting against us.
Hey buddy,
Sorry I haven't called you in awhile. My home stay was busy and fun but also a major pain as well. I've got so much Home work and studying for the next two weeks that I'm spending every minute trying to think of excuses to procrastinate.
I'll give you a call later to see if you can help me with my procrastination.
Love love,
Sam
Those are some dark squirrels. That's odd...I would have a expected a more bruthaman type squirrel to be found here and a lighter colored squirrel to be in Japan :-P
Soba sounds very tasty right about now.
WTF happened in Roppongi!?

Ahhh, it's so nice to get news from you. Sorry for not commenting before. Like everyone else, I had basically given up on you posting again, so I wasn't checking for updates anymore. But yay! I love your chocolate bear egg. And I'm glad you found bruthaman risu. They look awesome.
It sounds like you've been having a good month. And a good year. Gosh, I'm so glad you're enjoying it. You won't know how you've changed until you get back, I'm afraid. But you should keep your sense of humor and Jacob personality, please. :) We all miss you so freaking much.. you have no idea. We = everyone I've seen or talked to in the last six months. No joke. Take care and stay in touch. I'm leaving for Cairo in a week, so I'll kick up my own blog soon!
Aww...I knew the updates wouldn't last...
